Tap Room Manager (Evening)

Sleeping Giant Brewing Co. is an independent, family owned craft brewery based in northern Ontario. Our new location is a 12,000-sq. ft. production brewery and tap room on a 2.0-acre site at the corner of Squire and Macdonell street (right behind the Ford Dealership on Memorial). The taproom will have inside seating and outside seating to provide our guests the option to stop in to pick up fresh beer to go or to stay and have a pint.

Our Goal: to make the Sleeping Giant Tap Room into a community hub, full of events, meetings, presentations, and gatherings.

About the Position
This position would be filled prior to the opening of the new tap room to assist in the hiring and staffing of the new location. Our Tap Room will pour Sleeping Giant’s core brands as well as a variety of experimental and one off beers.  The Tap Room will have no kitchen, but instead host an open dining experience that will allow customers to support our restaurant partners, food trucks, delivery, or you could even bring your own food. The 2,500-sq. ft. Tap Room is expected to be full of guests, particularly on weekends, weekday evenings, and for special events.  In addition, the tap room includes an additional 4,000 sq. ft. of outside seating and lawn area that will be used during good weather from the spring to fall. A primary goal of the tap room is to provide a positive environment for our guests and community to not only sell our craft beer but to provide an informative and educational experience for people to better understand how craft beer is made, the history of craft beer in Northern Ontario and the positive impact of the craft beer community.

About the Tap Room
Monday to Thursday 11am to 11pm
Friday to Saturday 11am to 12am
Sunday Noon to 9pm

The tap room will have a full-service license (Beer / Wine / Spirits).  Like our beer, we will support other true craft beverage producers focusing on norther Ontario.

Customers will be allowed to purchase beer to go from the tap room, a truly unique experience in Ontario!

• Knowledge of and passion for craft beer
• Cicerone Certification desired or willing to achieve certification
• 2 years minimum bar/restaurant, brewery/winery, retail management
• Purchasing, inventory controls, marketing, and budgetary controls
• Knowledge and experience with Restaurant POS Systems (we use Touch Bistro)
• Skills and experience in verbal communication and customer focus
• Must be able to work weekends, evenings and events
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal and proven leadership skills

Full Time Retail Tap Team Member

About the Position
Provides customer service and encourages sales in the retail store. Acts in a courteous, professional and efficient manner at all times and applies exemplary customer relationship skills that promote a superior company image.

• Runs cash register for retail operations
• Restocks retail items neatly and efficiently and keeps the retail area tidy
• Provides customer service to all customers
• Restocks the beer refrigerator as needed
• Bring and clean empty bottles
• Cleans and distributes dispensing units
• Provides tours to customers and service to any brewery events
• Undertakes special projects, cleaning tasks per standard operating procedures and other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Experience
• Excellent customer service skills
• Exceptional communication skills
• Must be 18 years or older as you will be serving alcohol
• Must obtain Smart Serve certification if you do not already have it

Working Conditions
• Must be able to work flexible hours
• Must be able to work most weekends
